This artwork is a reference to the mighty Oak Trees that line the way into New Iberia, run along the Bayou Teche, and promulgate City Park of New Iberia, LA. They are the spirit of the Cajun people of Southern Louisiana. Their dignity and enduring strength have seen them through the centuries to the modern area. The resilient nature of the mighty Oak is not unlike the people that shade under their mighty branches. A people who are also battle worn and weathered from the ages. Forever intwined in a dance for survival. Two histories that run parallel to one another. Always, adapting but never changing the heart of who and what they are.
