This artwork reflects my memories of the hottest summer I had here in Louisiana. It was a couple of summers back. It was as though the air itself was on fire. Typically it is humid and hot but not like this. It was almost surreal the heat of that summer. This is an abstracted view of Downtown Lafayette, LA during that time. The vibrancy reflects the intensity of the heat and it's raw force. The geometric figures represent the melting people and the buildings aglow with the heat of the day. The brush strokes, hues, and colors also indicate the mindset of the people of Louisiana during this time frame. A collective grievance if you will against the mighty sun. This piece was made with quality paints and is on stretched canvas. It was made with acrylic and oil pastels. The frame comes with the painting.
