This artwork is part of my Alzheimer Series. It depicts the encroachment of brain spots in Alzheimer Patients. This is that weird intermediary stage when things are still largely normal but disorientation, confusion, and fractured memories begin to occur. In this piece, the bright purple area represents the area of activity that is normal. The area below it is fractured areas of normal brain activity and sensory perception. The area above the purple mass is the encroaching darkness. This abstraction of the early onset of dementia reflects the tumultuous nature of the disease and it's affect biologically. Oddly, there is beauty in death but is it really death of memory or a new beginning? This artwork is made with quality paints and is on stretched canvas.
